Breaks from blogging happen from time to time, some on purpose and some simply due to being busy enjoying life. :) Regardless of all the fun and wonderful things going on I must admit I do miss you readers and writing when I've taken a few days away. With that being said, I began but didn't finish sharing my list of romantic getaways.. it's time to get back on topic and dive into a few more turquoise waters. This five star hotel located on pristine private beachfront property in St Johns, Antigua is a definite stop on our road to romance. A portion of this gorgeous Caribbean escape is nestled into the soft hillside of Antigua offering spectacular views of the water. Rooms choices include ocean front suites and ocean view villas (from above). Both rooms suggest the warmth of the tropics and the relaxation of a quiet and private vacation retreat. The perfectly placed ocean view villas allow for prime views of the tranquil water below and exceptional privacy each with their very own pool. Needless to say, if you're looking for some seriously relaxing one on one time by the water consider this romantic spot. Let's jet from the Pacific all the way over to the Atlantic for this next romantic spot. If you're looking to travel from the east coast but don't have time to make it out to Hawaii this next stop could be decent and by decent I mean quite wonderful alternative. St. Barts is a relaxing and elegant destination filled with plenty of romance. Charming, cozy, and serene are the strong points of the boutique hotel Isle De France. This privately owned hotel of only 33 rooms is a perfect choice for sheer luxury and privacy. Located on a long stretch of open white sandy beach and looking out over breathtaking views this hotel offers more than just impeccable service. If your main goal is to lounge, soak in some rays, and take it the ocean breeze St. Barts is a great destination. Not offering as much in the way of activities as our first resort in Hawaii, but the beauty and setting of this hotel will keep you from wanting to leave. We're well on our way to finding romance by the ocean and have a few more places to go! Sit tight, another fabulous destination awaits tomorrow....

Valentines may be over but the romance must go on! The rest of this week's posts will be dedicated to my favorite romantic tropical getaways. Get ready for some seriously steamy places to escape to with your love.

First up on the list is the St. Regis Princeville on Kauai, Hawaii. Kauai, like all of the Hawaiian islands offers pristine ocean views, gorgeous garden habitat, and endless outdoor adventures. For active couples this dreamy island will serve as a relaxing retreat and an adventurous getaway. Outdoor activities include snorkeling, scuba diving, incredible hiking with trails to waterfalls with views that will blow your mind, golf, windsurfing, fishing, and horseback riding. Amazing outdoor activities aside, at this resort you will certainly be drawn to simply lie on the beach or at the pool and enjoy scenery so pretty it's no wonder it has shown up in a long list of TV shows and movies. Regardless of how you choose to spend your days, the luxurious St. Regis is sure to meet all your romantic requirements! Tell me you wouldn't trade yesterdays chocolates and flowers for a trip to a heavenly oasis like this... that's what I thought. The traveling continues tomorrow as we head to the next romantic escape be sure to stick around!

Give me red ranunculus and my favorite man my spectacularly handsome and marvelously romantic husband on my favorite beach in Hawaii and I'm in heaven. Everyday in paradise with my love is certainly enough to satisfy but if there must be flowers involved just leave me grinning at my ravishing red ranunculus.

MAGNIFICENT MONSTERA

If you know me well then you know it's no secret I have a love affair with monstera leaves. Ever since arriving on island I've fallen madly in love with this plant and it's foliage. It's enormous size and perfectly coastal vibe is what gets me the most. I feel as though I'm walking through a rain forrest every time I see one. This creeping vine is native to tropical rainforests of southern Mexico, hints why I would experience this rainforest illusion. They are magical beauties with plentiful posh punch. Adding any kind of live foliage to a room instantly gives it life. Easily transform a dull space into an inviting oasis with a quick drop of monstera leaves or palms to a vase. Whether they are draped on a table cloth or nestled together in a formal arrangement for an event monsteras tell a story of nature and it's wonders. I resemble a small child while watching our monstera plant grow in our backyard here in Hawaii. I swear I count each new leaf as it comes in! Cannot wait to add my very own monsteras to our home..

Getting back to my roots today. Saw this in my Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle magazine and had to share. This gracious and spacious outdoor living area is stocked with southern style and all the goods for a wonderful evening outdoors. Fire up the grill and settle in for great food and great friends... this may make me miss my Georgia loves just a tad too much. I think I'll tell them they have to come to Hawaii instead, an evening outside in January in GA isn't quite like ours here on the islands. Who's down for a bbq on the beach?! So simple and so easy, so pretty. Try a white or yellow candle surround by dried corn in a plain hurricane or jar.

Decorating the table is about focal points, just like a room. By using one object en mass it creates a statement. Try fall fruits such as pears, apples, or oranges in a hurricane for a instant eye catching piece.

Branch out from the typical Thanksgiving color palette and dress your table in earthy tones of brown and greens. A rich chocolate table cloth anchors the visual display. Try small vases filled with fresh greenery and tall green tapers for a soft glow.

For a traditional look with a twist arrange a line of miniature pumpkins in the center of the table and weave double-faced ribbon around them. Top with a bittersweet stem for a blaze of color.

Eating outdoors? Here's the perfect touch for keeping your tablecloth in place. Try some mini gourds for your Turkey Day table weights!

Grab your coat and go get some fresh air.. almost all you need for this look is a stroll around the block! Take a walk and collect acorns to make these fab fall napkin rings. For each ring, drill tiny holes through the sides of nine or ten acorns. Wire the acorns together, alternating the acorns top-to-bottom so they nestle together tightly and, va la! There you have a natural and warm welcome piece for your table.

Here's your hook-up for an inexpensive and chic vase fall filler! Dried beans are almost always readily available in bulk at low cost. Fill a hurricane with beans up to 2-3 inches then add a branch of yellow berries for a glow on your table.

Indian corn garland. Perfect for fall, perfect for indoors or outdoors. Try it!

Rich in color and interest- try this look. Arrange four gourds and six large chrysanthemum blossoms symmetrically in a flat bowl or tray for an eye catching contemporary centerpiece.

HELLO, HEAVEN

If you've ever wondered what me in apartment form would look like, well, here you are ladies and gentleman.

The November issue of Elle Decor landed on my kitchen island and I began to scroll through as I always do, until THIS Manhattan apartment was before my eyes. And there I sat in pure delight dumbfounded at how this gloriously designed space spilled out of my head into reality without me being present. It's quite the mystery, actually. :) Just about the only thing I would change about this space before moving in would be switching out the artwork with mine and my husband's pieces. Claiborne Sawnson Frank [new bride] recruited her mother-in-law for the job of putting her and her husband's first home together. It's looking like that was a fabulous decision! The patterns and colors throughout this home are dead on with my taste. The living room [first photo] is elegant but not overdone, sophisticated but not stuffy. I love glamour but not when it's not inviting or comfortable. Yes, a space should be oh-so posh but it also must be extremely livable. Here this NYC apartment encompasses just that vibe. Super polished yet cozy. Hope you enjoyed viewing this slice of heaven in the city as much as I did! Happy Wednesday loves

I have a strange and irriversable addiction to mugs. I collect them. I insist on having a mug from every city I love/have lived in/visited. When I drink my morning green tea/coffee it takes me back to that place & to a special memory I have stored away. It's a fun and effortless stroll down memory lane. Makes me smile and take a moment to remember and appreciate all the wonderful places I've been and people I've met. My husband laughs at me sometimes and asks, "Where did you go this time?!". Something that I love about mugs is although they are small they still can be a fantastic expression of style. Don't underestimate the little things, ever. Gracing the pages of the September issue of Vogue was Claude Wasserstein's sky-high Manhattan penthouse, gone cottage playhouse. Not a detail left to be desired. Everything in it's place and things in places you never dreamed when thinking of a home high up in the city. Filled with color, ease, and high style this NYC abode is right up my alley. The rooftop by far is the most impressive creation in this space. The mere amount of greenery on this rooftop is unbelievable, and to think you are in the heart of Manhattan. My heart beats wildly as a designer when something such as this space is accomplished in such a fabulous manner. Ahh, here's to another soul soothing posh place. Cheers!

I cannot seem to get away from these colors no matter what I do. I'm surrounded by them in the sky and the water here in Hawaii, then I go to work and all people want in their home is shades of blue and turqiouse.. not to mention some of the most amazing vintage bowls, vases and glassware that I'm finding on island are of the same hues. I will take a can of spray paint to a lot of things to make them fit into my life. That's the beauty of it...the power and possibility of completely customizing anything to fit perfectly into your nest. I have a slight addiction to this very practical and easy tool for updating.
