NEW DIRECTION

Dear readers, much time has passed and a lot of you have reached out via email wondering where I've been. Apologies for not posting an update sooner. I'm excited to share my current focus and new direction! My career has given me many opportunities that have ultimately ended up pulling me away from blogging, but allowing me to delve deeper into creative design. I am currently practicing residential design along with buying and merchandising for a retailer based out of Hawaii. My work has been so rewarding along with wonderfully progressing. Currently I am traveling 4-5 months out of the year for the job and I will be devoting my energy towards that role. I sincerely appreciate the support and encouragement during my time blogging and thank each and every one of you for making it a special and beautiful experience! Thank you for following along and best wishes to each one of you.

If you are interested in keeping up with my travel, happenings and work, you can find me frequently posting on instagram at, malloriejones_ . Would love to stay in touch with as many of you as possible!

deepest gratitude,

6 GALLERY WALL TIPS

Use furniture to anchor and ground the look.

No hammer, no problem. Create a gallery wall on existing floating or built in shelves. It makes the look nearly effortless and easy to switch around.

Hang old with new. Absolutely using vintage frames with new modern frames is a-ok. Just the same it's fine to mix a historic print with a portrait of your family or yesterday's beach scene. It gives interest and a cultured look.

Go big. Theres no 'gallery wall rule' that says a specific number is the key so use a large space as the perfect opportunity to go big with your design.

Don't be afraid of color, be bold and embrace hues that you love.

Mix in a mirror to the look to add dimension and depth

now get busy!

MOVED

Excited to announce that we have officially moved. Leaving the land of aloha is extremely bittersweet and there's certainly no simple way to say goodbye. Luckily, we will return one day so that keeps our hearts warm as our feet take us to many different (and this time - cold) places! Our next adventure is happening in Washington, DC for the year. By next summer we will be on the move again, but for now it's time to enjoy this great city so rich in history and exciting events. Stay tuned for more frequent blogging as there was an absence for awhile due to big projects and crazy working hours. Looking forward to writing again.

much love,

ROOM OF THE DAY: PALM BEACH STYLE

Today's room of the day is brought to you by non other than design guru Jonathan Adler. Capturing a mid-century/vintage/modern flair in this space was accomplished by a mixture of elements pulling together a sexy and fun Palm Beach style space. White walls are a staple for PB style, so is bright furniture and this room is a perfect showcase of that. Natural elements such as this jute rug, paired with high gloss accessories are just the right formula for laid back glamour. The fiddle leaf fig brings the outdoors in and the gold and acrylic finishes add and the perfect dose of chic. Layering styles is key to the Palm Beach look and if you study this room you'll see a fabulous example of just that. Hopefully you're dreaming in beach tones today.. wherever you may be. From east coast beaches to west coast beaches, cheers to coastal style!

WELL LIT WEDNESDAY

 Ashland lamp, Arteriors

Gracing the pages of magazines and the consoles of gorgeous homes, the Ashland is no stranger to attention. The natural wood base with gold leaf finish offers organic beauty with a touch of glam. And let's face it, the black shade is the icing on the cake. Always in love with a well lit space.  Happy hump day!

LAKE BELL AT HOME IN LA

Filmmaker and actress Lake Bell is smart and spunky while having serious down to earth style, take a look...

I love getting a glimpse into someone's home whose personality intrigues me. Lake Bell's girl next door attitude goes hand in hand with her "LA crash pad" as she calls it. Splitting her time between LA and New York means she's on the go and wants to kick her feet up and enjoy the Cali sunshine when she lands on the west coast. Her space provides plenty of room for sun and simple conversation. This home's eclectic, approachable, and unique style represents it's owner pretty darn well. Here's to the darling home to one of my favorite Hollywood gals...

COMMERCIAL SHOOT

Today is a look inside my commercial shoot for Pacific Home. Visual merchandising has always been an aspect of the design industry that I admire and aspire to do more of. One of the greatest things about the industry is all of the unique avenues within it. From my days working on site in client's homes to meetings with our design team for store buying; time spent in the store putting together vignettes to doing photo shoots and commercials, my heart is always at home. Design has become so many things to me. I have been blessed with an array of roles and responsibilities and for that I am extremely grateful. Cultivating and executing my first commercial shoot was a complete blast and I look forward to doing it whenever the opportunity presents itself. Will share the final result hopefully in the near future but for now, a sneak peek of some shots on set will have to suffice. Hope your week starts out on an inspired note!

JOHN ROBSHAW BEDDING

This bedding collection is for anyone who is looking to bring their bedroom alive. Bursting with vivid colors and graphic patterns these designs tell the stories of the lands they came from. John Robshaw (pictured above) has traveled the world and channelled his inspiration into his collection of textiles, bedding, and home goods. Each piece is hand crafted with love and careful attention by Indian artisans. The John Robshaw look is one of laid back elegance, each design is wonderfully cheerful and cultured. What makes this one of my favorite bedding companies is how and why it came to be and it's evident uniqueness. To view JR's full collection and read more about it's history, click here.

CLEARLY IN LOVE

Okay, so frankly July was a bad blogging month for me, horrible actually. I'm on a serious guilt trip right now. To my wonderful readers I'm sorry and I love you. The only way to redeem myself is to come back strong! Got lots of gorgeous goodness lined up so hang tight. First off, let's start simple. What better way to jump back in then a clearly in love post. This time around it's a staple I believe almost any home should have, an acrylic console. This piece is so versatile and extremely easy to move around throughout the house for different uses. With just the right touch of luxe this console sets a perfect clear stage for any basic accessory. Great for a sofa table, skinny laptop desk, bar, entryway table and more this console is so easy to fall in love with. Shop the gita console at the best [no biased feelings involved] design studio and furniture store, Pacific Home

They pretty much said it all in one sentence! These posh pareos are certainly a summer staple and absolutely an all the time Hawaii staple. Unbelievably convenient and so easy to carry with you, these whisper-soft cotton babies come in the most gorgeous prints and colors. Summer never looked so bright. Cheers to the weekend!!

CONSOLE CRUSHES

I'm crushing hard on these sexy little consoles today. While perusing around vendors hunting the perfect console for a client I fell in love all over again with Bungalow 5. I hop around and give lots of companies my attention especially when I'm on the prowl for a specific piece but at the end of the day I have my favorite few. At the moment for case goods it's Arteriors, Worlds Away, Bernhardt, and Made Goods, but Bungalow is quickly climbing the list. Wanted to share my gorgeous finds, stick close because one of these will end up in a project. Of course I'll share photos when it comes time.  Happy Thursday.... almost there!
