ACCESSORIZING HOW TO

New with old.

It's as simple as that.

When it comes to accessorizing bookshelves and built in bookcases it's easy to get overwhelmed by open space. Just remember, by mixing old with new you bring a well cultured look that is chic and timeless. When it comes to the items you chose carefully select things that represent your taste and interest, this display should be functional as well as beautiful. Start by gathering your favorite architecture/design/fashion books- they make great props and will be easy to grab when you want to reference them, then focus on the smaller things (see my list below) and remember less is more! Lastly, make sure to focus on grouping things together so that clutter is avoided.

BREAKFAST NOOK

There's just something about a darling little breakfast nook. It's such a good place to share a cup of coffee and enjoy those last moments of the morning that you can. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly adore a grand formal dining space to gather and have beautiful meals in but I love the coziness of a small wonderfully put together space as well. For many homes the kitchen space doesn't permit a large table and chairs, in that case I always start dreaming of an intimate inviting little nook for the family to enjoy. GIRLY MADELINE WEINRIB FABRICS

Woke up in fabric mode this morning and after perusing around Madeline Weinrib's website while shopping for a client I couldn't help but feel like sharing these oh so sweet girly prints! What little girl doesn't love the hue of pink or at least go through a stage of loving it? Perfect for a nursery or young girls room these precious pink fabrics are fresh and fun. Layering fabric patterns is an art, MW's fabric makes it easy to accomplish that look with color corresponding fabrics in both small and large scale prints/patterns. SPRING POOL CRUSH

March is well upon us and spring isn't far behind. For most of you that means pool season is right around the corner, with that in mind I opted for a little pool crushing today. How fantastic is this poolside lounge area? The hues in this outdoor living space are beyond inviting! The layers of blue from the pool to the pool side tiles & the aqua garden stools are a perfect punch of fully saturated color. And how darling is the Moroccan lighting dangling above with soft romantic light? The oversized plants are just the right thing to bringing the outdoors in this cozy space.   It's time for a much needed fashion break. Drum rolllll please....... [this Hawaii girl isn't excited at all, can you tell?], dvf for roxy drops today! This line is genius, Diane brings such a quirky, bold, and classy flair to the table and roxy makes a mean, well anything, for the water. I'm very excited to get my hands on these groovy pieces. I'm also completely in love with the fact that the faces of this line are the gorgeously rad Monyca Wickey & Kelia Moniz, both local island girl surfers from Hawaii that I adore. What do you think about the team up? Surely I'm not the only wahine loving this launch...

BEACH ART

Beach art doesn't have to mean wave photography or scenes of sand dunes at sunset, it can be so many other things. Personally, a more modern take on art is always my go to. I love these black framed fish swimming in both directions on the wall. While keeping these photos neutral in color and exactly the same size it's a fresh and clean approach on beach art.  These photos give the illusion of movement and the dark frames add strong lines to the space. Also, a more dramatic effect was created with how high these pieces are hung. More coastal art to come as I find inspiration..
